Meeting entry conditions

Your qualifications do not have to define how far you can go.

If you are offered conditional admission to an associate-degree programme without the required Mathematics or English Language qualification, ECC may assign Foundation courses that must be completed within the period stated in your offer. Admissions will determine the correct starting level from your qualifications and programme. Foundation courses are not bachelor’s-level requirements.

Mathematics pathway

Foundation Concepts in Mathematics

MATH0001

Foundation Concepts in Mathematics I builds essential arithmetic and algebraic understanding.

MATH0002

Foundation Concepts in Mathematics II completes preparation equivalent to standard college matriculation and CSEC Mathematics General Proficiency.

MATH0003

Foundation Concepts in Mathematics III provides additional preparation for mathematically demanding programmes, including those involving Pre-Calculus, Calculus, applied sciences or Engineering Mathematics.

These are non-credit Foundation courses. A student may be assigned Mathematics I and/or II; Mathematics III is not a universal requirement.

English pathway

Foundation Concepts in English

Foundation Concepts in English I develops the core language skills needed for successful college study.

Foundation Concepts in English II continues the approved pathway for students satisfying an outstanding English Language matriculation condition.

Your admission letter and the Admissions team determine whether Foundation English is required. Programme-specific entry requirements still apply.

Conditionally admitted?

Complete every outstanding matriculation condition by the deadline communicated by ECC. An unmet Mathematics or English condition can affect your eligibility to complete your award.

Your first-year experience

Build the habits, values and confidence to thrive.

For applicable associate-degree students, these experiences are mandatory parts of the first year. They are completed online at the student’s own pace and should not be confused with courses listed in a programme’s semester structure. They are not required during the bachelor’s stage.

PACE

A mandatory part of the first-year experience, completed online at your own pace with support from an advisor. An advisor may arrange an occasional meeting where useful.

U-VAC

A mandatory, self-paced online first-year experience that supports ECC’s emphasis on values, attitudes and personal development. Advisor support is available.

Information Literacy

A self-paced online course that helps you find, evaluate and use information effectively for college study. It is separate from any credit-bearing Information Technology course in your programme.

Learning through service

Social Outreach

Social Outreach gives applicable associate-degree students an opportunity to contribute to their communities while developing responsibility, empathy and teamwork. It is a college-wide completion requirement at the associate-degree level rather than a course to be added to every curriculum table. It is not required at the bachelor’s level.

Before graduation, make sure you have:

01Completed the Social Outreach activity assigned to you.

02Submitted the required Social Outreach report.

03Submitted your completed time card in the required semester.

Confirm the required hours, registration process and submission deadlines with the Social Outreach Department.

Your completion checklist

Your award may have additional practicum, certification or partnership requirements. Foundation courses, PACE, U-VAC, Information Literacy and Social Outreach in this checklist apply only at the associate-degree level. Use this as a guide and confirm your final status with the relevant ECC offices.

03Work ExperienceComplete Work Experience and submit the required report where applicable.

04Social OutreachAssociate-degree students complete the activity and submit the report and time card where applicable.
