What is SFPP?

Your route from Grade 11 into ECC.

The Sixth Form Pathways Programme is a Ministry of Education initiative that allows eligible students who have completed Grade 11 to continue Grades 12 and 13 through an approved institution.

At ECC, your pathway is the route into college. The qualification you earn depends on the programme you select and the pathway for which you are eligible.

Who may enter?

Applicants must have formally completed Grade 11, be 16–18 years old and meet the entry profile for the appropriate pathway or complete the required diagnostic assessment.

How long are you eligible?

Eligibility is for two years immediately following Grade 11. A student who applies after Grade 12—or one year after completing Grade 11—is eligible for only one year in SFPP.

Entry requirements

Minimum five CSEC subjects, normally including Mathematics and English Language.
For selected CCCJ Associate Degrees, an applicant with five subjects may be admitted without CSEC or City & Guilds Mathematics and/or English.
Students admitted through that route must pass Foundation Concepts in Mathematics 1–3 and/or Foundation Concepts in English 1–2.
Level 2 NVQ-J and CVQ qualifications are accepted for matriculation into Occupational Associate Degrees.

PathwayII

Technical

Build occupational competence and stronger core skills.

Learn by doing, gain industry-recognised competence and prepare to contribute from day one.

Entry requirements

One to four CSEC subjects may be considered.
NVQ-J, CVQ, or City & Guilds English or Mathematics may also be considered.
Students must complete the HEART/NSTA Trust Diagnostic Test.

Programme structure

An NVQ-J or CVQ occupational programme
City & Guilds Level 3 Mathematics and English
Employability Skills: Customer Service, Personal and Career Development
Entrepreneurship
Optional additional CSEC subjects, including Mathematics and English, or one to two CAPE subjects where the relevant CSEC prerequisite is held; optional examinations are at the student's own cost.

Exit profile & next steps

Earn occupational certification and strengthen workplace readiness. Continue to the next available NVQ-J/CVQ level, or enter a related OAD after meeting its requirements.

PathwayIII

General

Strengthen Mathematics and English while developing practical skills.

Build confidence, strengthen essential foundations and discover the practical ability that can open your next door.

Entry requirements

Formal completion of Grade 11 at a public high school.
Assessment is used to determine the appropriate Mathematics, English and developmental support.

Programme structure

English and Mathematics certification through City & Guilds Stage 2 or Stage 3 and/or the CSEC programme
A City & Guilds Skills Proficiency award in a specialised area
Employability Skills, including Personal and Professional Development and Career Guidance

Exit profile & next steps

Leave with stronger Mathematics and English foundations, practical occupational competence and employability skills. Progress to further skills training, Pathway II, a qualifying OAD or entry-level employment.
